Steve's Shepherd's Pie

This one is great for them cold evenings after getting in from work and you want to be filled, Warm and content for the rest of the evening.



You will need

4 or 5 potatoes.
1 lb of Mince
1 Onion
1 Tablespoon of plain flour
2 Stock Cubes
Salt and pepper
Mixed Herbs
2 carrots
1 hand full of peas
Some cheese of your choice

Method

Place a small amount of olive oil in the frying pan.
Chop the Onion and put it into the pan with a pinch of mixed herbs for a short time to just bring out the glaze, Once it has started to glaze put in the mince, mix up well with the onions and brown off the mince.

Chop the carrots and place them in a casserole dish.
Mix in the mince and onions.
Add boiling water to the level of the mince and veg.
Sprinkle the stock cubes over and stir in.

Stick in the oven for 50 minutes at 180c or Gas mark 4.

Whilst the mince and carrots are cooking in the oven make your mashed potatoes mixing in some grated cheese as you mash.

After 45 minutes take the pot out of the oven put your peas in and mix up well, If the gravy is looking a little thin mix in some flour to thicken then spread the mash over the top.

Put back in the oven for a further 20 - 25 minutes

Quickly sprinkle grated cheese over the Mash and a pince of mixed herbs and cook for a further 10 - 15 minutes.

Remove from the oven and serve pipping hot.
