Nan's Fruit Loaf

Here is a recipe from my Nan's collection for a Fruit Loaf, We believe it comes from about the 1930's or 40's.

The measurements of a cup is an old tea cup so get out your best china for this one.

Nan's Fruit Loaf

1 cup of dried fruit.
1 cup of Brown Sugar
1 cup of cold tea
1 Egg
2 cups of self raising flour

Soak the dried  fruit and sugar in a bowl  over night in the cold Tea.

Next day

Place in a mixing bowl and Slowly add the egg and flour and mix in well.

Grease a loaf tin or a small bread tin and place in the centre of the oven and cook in a moderate oven for about 1 hour @ 180c or gas mark 4.

Cool and slice the loaf to how ever many slices you require.
Spread butter to taste.
